STLV: Trek to Vegas 2024 Cosplay Contest takes place SATURDAY in the Main Theatre at 4:45 PM
Selected finalists will be judged on the quality of their costume as well as overall stage presence. STLV: Trek to Vegas 2024 Cosplay Contest is a walk-on only presentation (no skits).
Pre-Judging takes place SATURDAY in The Lounge in Vic’s Bar (formerly Jimmy’s Bar). Just show up in costume if you’d like to participate!
Please be prepared to spend 1-3 minutes discussing your costume, inspiration and the creation process involved.
Failure to appear in time for pre-judging will result in disqualification from the contest. Only selected entries from the Pre-Judging portion will move forward to be part of STLV: Trek to Vegas 2024 Cosplay Contest on the Main Stage at 4:45 PM.

Skill Levels

Entries will be separated into the following three craftsmanship skill level categories:
BEGINNER - Suitable for anyone who has little to no experience making a costume (has never won an award).
INTERMEDIATE - Suitable for anyone who has some experience in costume making (may have won awards at other conventions).
EXPERT - Suitable for those with experience making several costumes (may have won multiple awards for their skill at other conventions)
The Cosplay Contest organizers reserve the right to move any entry into a different craftsmanship skill level category should they feel the entry’s skill level exceeds the category they initially registered for.

A panel of amazing celebrity and expert judges will select winners for the following awards:
Beginner: Winner receives $500 gift certificate
Intermediate: Winner receives $500 gift certificate
Expert: Winner receives $500 gift certificate
Best in Show: Winner walks away with a $1,000 gift certificate!

Rules and Restrictions

All entrants must have a convention pass (full convention or Saturday) for STLV: Trek to Vegas 2024 Convention to be eligible to compete.
Costumes are judged based on craftsmanship of the costume. Entrants must participate in pre-judging.
Costumes must be of original construction (i.e. hand-made by you). Store-bought or “found” items may be incorporated into your costume, but the full costume cannot have been purchased or made by someone else.
Purchased/commissioned costumes are prohibited from the Cosplay Contest but are ideally suited for entry in the Cosplay Parade.
Any pre-existing materials used in your costume should show a significant amount of modification.
Costumes must be related to the Trek universe (i.e. re-creations of a character/costume or inspired original designs).
All contestants must be at least 13 years old to enter. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Should a contestant be under the age of 13, a legal guardian or parent MUST be present at all times.
You do not need to be the wearer of your entry, but you must be present with your model during the pre-judging and the contest (should you be a finalist).
Group entries will be judged as if the entire group were one person.
Costumes must provide enough coverage to be worn in public, and should be appropriate for a family-friendly show.
Your costume must allow you the freedom of movement so that you can go up and down steps.

In general, questions for our celebrities are taken from the audience at microphones in the front of the audience area. Yelling of questions from the audience is disruptive and rude to everyone present and may result in being asked to leave the theatre and convention. We ask that everyone respect their fellow attendees.
