PART TWO: DR. WHO INVADES AMERICA!
or, "My other vehicle is a TARDIS"

The BBC TV series Dr. Who was a sci-fi phenomenon that crossed the Atlantic with a force unseen since the days of the Beatles. And, Creation was there, leading this second British invasion across the Colonies.

TOM BAKER
...was undoubtedly the most popular Doctor, and we ran an event in Chicago with him that sold out in 3 weeks with over 6000 people.

JONATHAN NATHAN TURNER
...or JNT as he is affectionately called, produced several years of the series and brought it up to date with modern production values (more or less).

PETER DAVISON
...was the celery-toting Doctor and a nice gentleman as well, also hugely popular during this era

SARAH SUTTON
...played Nyssa, one of the Doctor's many able assistants. We would visit the local PBS station in the market where we were running the event and have the Who talent, like Sarah, appear in "public service announcements" to promote the convention. You couldn't advertise commercially on PBS (where Dr. Who was running) so we were constantly trying to set up these "PSA's" to promote the events. It was a hassle.

TERRY NATION
...a lovely, talented gentleman who created the nefarious Daleks and the wonderful series Blakes 7 for you British sci fi fans. Regrettably, he just passed away -- we'll always miss him, a kind man and one of our favorites.

LOUISE JAMESON
...played the savage Leela, but was perfectly sweet in real life.

THE DR. WHO CONVENTION COSTUME CONTESTS
...were always hysterical because at least half the contestants would be pulling a Tom Baker with the notorious scarf. Some of these people are still wearing the scarf 15 years later.
